White Powder Substance On Cigar Wrappers…What Is That?
So if you are new to the world of cigar smoking this might be something that a first might turn you off. You might think that you got a cigar that is old, moldy or just badly produced. However this is not the case as this is usually a sign that you are dealing with a rather good cigar.
The reason I say that it is a good cigar is because white power on the cigar is a sign that the leaf that was used in the wrapper is in bloom. It is actually the oils in the wrapper that put off this white substance. It actually shows that the leaf is healthy and good.
It is a good idea to keep your cigars that have this on it at a consistent temperature and try to keep it away from humidity. It will help to make sure that it stays in prime smoking condition.

How To Tell You Are Getting Top Shelf Cigars
There are many measures of having a top shelf cigar. We have already spoken about the most important factor, being consistency. But after you have that there are a couple of other issues that you will want to look for if you are trying to make sure you are getting the best quality cigar.
For one you will want to make sure that it must draw and burn well. The importance of having a cigar burning well is for a number of reasons. First you will want to enjoy your cigar longer and if your cigar had been underfilled it will be an easy draw and burn a lot faster. This isn’t good for most people who like to enjoy cigars. However there are some cigars where this is what you are looking for, but these will not fall under being in our top shelf category.
Another reason you don’t want a underfilled and easy draw cigar is that you will get a cigar that is considered a hot smoke. A hot smoke is when a cigar gets very hot from all the heat and will in turn become harsh to the taste. It is a difficult concept to explain through writing about it. However if you have ever experienced this then you will know exactly what I am talking about. The cigar seems to lose its taste, at least in our humble opinion.
Another way to understand that you are getting a high quality top shelf cigar is to look at its construction. By construction we mean is it burning evenly all the way down. This is a sign of a good construction process (proper rolling).
If your cigar is top shelf then there is a chance that it will be able to hold a ash for about an inch before it falls off.
If you have a cigar that is able to stand up to all of these standards then there is a chance of having a top shelf cigar. But before you go ahead and write off the cigar that you may currently

Top 5 Cigars By Our Opinion
It can be very subject when talking about what we believe is the top 10 cigars from our opinion. So we do our proper research to find out what other quality sources are saying as well. This way it is not subjective but a collective account of what is really going in the world of cigars.
We are going to start with my personal favorite and a lot of the others here at best value cigars and that is the Macanudo.
Macanudo actually means “the greatest” if you speak Spanish that is how it translates. I have to say that their name was picked well because they are always on the top of lists out there for being one of the top cigars in the world. It is actually the top selling cigar in the United States. Ironically being that it is a Spanish name it is actually made in Jamaica. They are made with Mexican leafs and have a very mild flavor and a medium taste in our opinion. Although I mentioned that it is made in Jamaica it is also produced in the Dominican Republic as well. This is where the Spanish name comes from.
If you are looking for a cigar with a very medium – middle of the road all around good cigar then this is probably one where you can’t go wrong. Of course they have a couple different varieties, but if you really want to try their best work then we would say to give the Vintage Collection a shot. It is a little bit more expensive for a box, but we are not judging our recommendations on price, but on the overall quality, taste and construction of each cigar.
Our second choice is going to have to be the Arturo Fuente. Currently the Dominican Republics largest produced handmade cigar. What makes these cigars so special is that they are made with a variety of 4 different types of tobacco in the filler. Its flavor is one of medium to full-body taste. Their Robusto called the Opus X is the cigar of choice if you plan on trying out a Arturo Feunte.
Our third choice is going to have to be the Cohiba. Made in the best climate in the world for tobacco growth, this is in our opinion Cuba’s best export. This is actually Fidel’s favorite brand as it was reserved for only the most privileged few in Cuba for a long time. The tobacco is selected from only the best vegas in Cuba. The flavor of these cigars are medium bodied, full flavored.
Fourth in our line up is going to have to be the legendary Montecristo. Another excellent Cuban brand that held the title of the best Cuban cigar until Cohiba came into play around the 1060′s. Their flavor is quite unique as it is a little bit tangy.
Fifth on the list of the top cigars is going to have to be the Romeo y Julieta. This is not the Romeo y Julieta from Cuba but actually the one from Dominican Republic. It does have Cuban seed filler though. Again these are going to be a medium bodied cigar.
